Foreclosure Paralegal Job Description Sample 1:
The foreclosure paralegal works closely with foreclosure lawyers, the foreclosure paralegal manages and maintains assigned foreclosure files. Responsibilities include file management, client communication and fulfilling reporting requirements.
Reporting: The foreclosure paralegal reports to the supervising lawyers on substantive legal matters and to the Office Services Manager on administrative matters.
Primary Responsibilities:
Handle approximately 50-60 foreclosure files from referral through to conclusion of file.
Respond to client inquiries via email and keep the client informed of the status of the foreclosure process via on-line system.
Respond to inquiries from the client’s customers in a timely manner.
Prepare pleadings, court application documents and other required documents from firm precedents for review of foreclosure lawyer.
Prepare and file claims on behalf of the client with the mortgage insurer.
Arrange for client billing as required.
Attend local Sheriff’s sales as required.
Maintain a comprehensive bring-forward system.
Manage and prioritize files.
Other duties as required.
Education:
Successful completion of legal assistant or paralegal diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Minimum of two years’ experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role. Previous experience in civil litigation or property law preferred. Previous experience with mortgage foreclosure work is an asset.
Skills & Qualifications:
Skilled in the use of Outlook and MS-Word.
Exceptional organizational skills including superior attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Flexible and reliable, you work well both independently as well as part of a team.
Excellent proofreading, spelling and grammar skills.
