Job Setting: Provincial Government – Cash Management Services

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Cash Management Services, the Money Market Trader prepares and maintains a cash forecasting system for the Provincial Fund, and other funds administered by the Province.. The incumbent assists in the daily activities of the Cash Management section such as short term borrowing for the Provincial Fund and the investment of surplus funds in the money market. The Money Market Trader is responsible for determining the daily cash positions for the Province’s Sinking Funds, Public Debt Management Funds and other miscellaneous special funds.

This position also assists with the Banking Functions of the Province including the reviewing of Banking Contracts, setup of required bank accounts and facilitation of the implementation of banking services for the Province.

The incumbent will be expected to keep abreast of changing financial market conditions and work with management for both long term forecasting requirements, and for the maintenance of capital markets relationships on a daily basis. Continual credit analysis of exposures of the Province is an important function of this position. The Money Market Trader is expected to perform the duties of the Manager, Cash Management Services as operational requirements dictate.

Education & Experience:
Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent. Candidates with professional designations or advanced degrees (or working toward) such as the CFA or the MBA would be preferred. Minimum work experience of five years in financial services is needed. Advanced computer skills and strong analytical skills would be beneficial. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and computer programs such as Excel, and Word is essential. Candidates must have ability to exercise initiative and good judgement. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are required. Candidates need to have high standards in accuracy, communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
