Animal Health Technologist Job Description Sample 1:
Primary duties include managing the welfare of laboratory animals used in medical, veterinary and dental research.
Specific Duties:
Animal restraint, anesthesiology, radiology, dentistry, animal care, reception, lab work.
All normal duties of an Animal Health Technologist (Veterinary Nurse) as permitted by the AB.VMA and the AAAHT. Must be aa AAAHT member or eligible for membership.
An animal health technologist can expect to do the following tasks:
clean cages, pens, trays, equipment and fittings;
feed and water animals;
handle and move animals safely;
administer medicines;
check the living environment of the animals (for example, temperature and humidity);
monitor the condition of animals and recognize and resolve any behavioural problems;
obtain samples and measurements;
collect and record data;
ensure animals are healthly kept clean and comfortable.
