Position Description:
The Department of Psychiatriy and Addictions Services at XXXX Medical Center is seeking a full-time Addictions Counselor to provide a range of alcohol/drug inpatient clinical treatment services: advanced level treatment planning and implementation, individual, group and family counseling, education seminars, overall case management, utilization reviews with payors, psychosocial assessments and diagnostic and discharge summaries.
Minimum Requirements
An Associates degree in Chemical Dependency and at least two years of experience in addictions treatment services required; Bachelor’s degree in Chemical dependency, Counseling or related discipline and state certification in chemical dependency preferred. Master’s degree a plus.

Job Setting: Medical Center – Chemical Dependency Unit
In conjunction with the Clinical Director provides day to day counseling intervention in the form of education; group, individual and family therapy; case review and management; treatment planning and referral according to regulatory agency requirements to meet the individual client needs. Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a related field, and two or more years of experience in Mental Health or Substance Abuse field required. Certified Addiction Counselor III (CAC III) or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) required within six months of hire, transfer, or promotion. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage or Family Therapist (LMFT) and Masters Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a related field preferred.

Delivers patient care utilizing the core functions and skills of Certified Addictions Counseling as established by the National Certification Reciprocity Consortium and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Counselors (NAADAC). Provides case management services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. or B.S. in counseling or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One (1) year as an addiction counselor.
Certification as an addiction counselor OR Eligibility for registered Addiction Counselor in the State within 90 days of employment.
