Overview The successful candidate will work with a team of highly skilled network engineers, software developers and telemedicine specialists to ensure the quality of existing and future videoconference services
Responsibilities:
• Maintain core videoconferencing infrastructure, including bridges, gatekeepers, session border controllers and videoconference servers. Perform system installations and upgrades, tune and configure systems, plan for growth in capacity and function.
• Provide responsive, methodical and timely 2nd and 3rd level support for videoconferencing services. Lead service restoration efforts; conduct root cause analyses; develop, test and implement problem fixes.
• Plan, develop and provide technical leadership for new videoconferencing services to meet the needs of members. Work with Business Analysis and Enterprise Applications teams to design and build integrated products and services for clinical, educational and administrative videoconferencing applications.
• Work with network engineers and Service Desk technicians to diagnose and resolve technical incidents and problems on the videoconference network.
• Develop and utilize tools to monitor audio and video quality across the network in real-time.
• Create test plans, administer acceptance tests and develop test reports.
• Research and investigate new products for applicability to services. Conduct feasibility and interoperability tests and develop recommendation reports and whitepapers.
• Assist in the development of the Quality Assurance and R&D Lab. Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance standards and practices within Technical Services.
• Serve as an advisor and liaison to the software development team and collaborate on the specification, development and testing of new products.
• Provide training to the Service Desk and other IT administrators on the administration and support of videoconferencing gear.
• Liaise and coordinate with vendors and solution providers for implementation bug fixes, solutions analysis, product updates, designs, pricing and maintenance issues.
• Assist with the development of RFPs and RFIs, and with the evaluation and selection of vendor submissions.
• Participate in change management process. Serve on the Change Advisory Board, helping to ensure that RFCs are properly assessed, documented and implemented.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual capital budget submission, as it pertains to videoconferencing core equipment.
• Track and maintain records of technical activities and gaps or problems.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current telemedicine technology and its application and limitations.
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Formal certification in networking (CCNA, CCNP or CCIE preferred) and videoconferencing (Tandberg and/or Polycom infrastructure and endpoints).
• 5 years of hands-on technical experience supporting videoconferencing services in a large and diverse WAN environment.
• Expert knowledge of both H.323 and SIP protocols.
• Expert knowledge of videoconferencing infrastructure including MCU’s (Tandberg/Codian, Polycom/RMX), H.323 gatekeepers, SIP registrars/proxies, Session Border Controllers and management/provisioning functions related to all types of infrastructure.
• Advanced knowledge of IP networking technologies (TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, WAN/LAN, VPN, VRF, VLAN, Switches/Routers, firewalls, NAT, etc).
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Programming and/or scripting knowledge including C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, including instructional documentation and report creation.
• ITIL/ITSM – IT Infrastructure Library service management certification would be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects according to industry standard project management practices.
• Demonstrated ability to research and integrate new technologies into current video conferencing infrastructures.
• Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience
