Registered Nurse Job Description 1:
Position: Registered Nurse
Site: General
Reports To: Clinical Team Manager
Hours: 1.0 FTE, days/evenings, 8 hour shifts, and on call based on the need of the department, including weekends
Status: Full Time Temporary – approximately 1 year
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide patient/family driven care. The registered nurse in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team will deliver treatment with an emphasis on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of health in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. The Registered Nurse provides patient-centred nursing care and may be involved in the administration of nursing care to a group of patients.
All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or equivalent preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Physical Assessment Course.
- Recent PACU/Critical Care certificate.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION:
- College of Nurses of Ontario.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum 2 years current PACU/CCU experience.
- Minimum 2 years current adult and paediatric surgical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- RNAO and OPANA membership.
- Minimum 1 year procedural sedation experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Clinical competence in PACU/CCU nursing skills.
- Ability to use critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to organize patient care demands and to set priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the health-care team including patients and families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated and ongoing commitment to professional development.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
