Pharmacy Technician Job Description 1:
– This position dispenses prescription medication through the Auto-Med Opti-Fill automated fulfillment and manual dispensing system.
- This position provides front-end processing, dispensing and manifesting of prescription orders, stocking, daily deliveries, and participates in physical inventories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive;
- Understand and operate the Auto-Med Opti-Fill prescription dispensing system, prescription accumulator and conveyor system, and all systems supporting the dispensing and manifesting function
- Participate in the fulfillment process and Pharmacy support responsibilities
- Pack and ensure shipment of boxes to facilities as needed; may require lifting boxes of varying weights
- Communicate performance and quality standards expectations to fellow teammates (technicians and Pharmacy support personnel)
- Ensure the proper flow and documentation of prescription fulfillment is followed at all times
- Ensure appropriate quality controls are in place and communicate to pharmacy teams and facility partners in situations in which quality may have been compromised
- Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician, Certification preferred; in good standing with State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency in Word, Outlook and Rx specific software

The hospital also utilizes electronic medication administration documentation (eMAR) and bed side scanning of unit dose, bar coded inpatient medications.

-Recent prior pharmacy experience required, preferably in an inpatient setting.
-PTCB certified pharmacy technician (or must obtain certification within 90 days from date of hire).
