Job Summary
This is a part time position responsible for supporting the technical, circulation, and reference functions of the library. The position is responsible for overseeing the library facility, materials, service and operations in the absence of the Director of Library Services and the Reference Librarians. Incumbent must assure that the following philosophy is adhered including: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion – is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Key Job Elements:
- Process library materials used by patron. Input data needed for computer circulation and catalog system.
- Collaborate with the reference librarians to provide reference services to the patrons. Staff the circulation desk
- Check in and process print subscriptions
- Organize and maintain back issues of periodicals
- Help maintain the appearance and functionality of the Library. Perform stack maintenance.
- Maintain Library supplies and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Library, Information Science, or related.
At least one year related experience in a post-secondary institution preferred

Ability to collaborate as a member of a team
Willing to work weekends and evenings.

Job Setting: College Library
Provide library services that support the instructional needs of students and faculty.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service, reference and circulation services.
- Provide one-on-one computer help and assistance, including use of student portal and software applications.
- Provide library orientation sessions, instructing incoming students on library use.
- Provide test proctoring assistance, including conducting admission exams, course test-outs and course make-up testing.
- Assist with the selection, ordering, receiving, and cataloging of library resources, such as verifying order information, preparing purchase orders, data entry into library system, processing of books and subscription periodicals.
- Assist with the development of library policies and procedures, strategic planning and facilitation of the Library Advisory Committee.
- Assist in maintaining records and statistics on the library collection and library usage to meet all regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist with creation of photo identification cards and card database maintenance.
- Maintain the collection, such as inventory, shelf-reading, book repair.
- Other duties as assigned by Librarian.
Required Skills
- MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Working knowledge of library services and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system.
- Experience with an automated library catalog/circulation system.
Required Experience & Education:
- Some college; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Library experience to include internet research skills; basic computer/technical support and/or teaching experience; facilitating/proctoring tests and health experience is strongly preferred.

- Must be flexible to days-evenings and occasionally Saturdays
