Job Setting: Hospital – Food Services

Requirements: Position is physically demanding and requires considerable bending and lifting. Hands are in frequent contact with water, soap, detergent, etc. Ability to lift 25 pounds and assist in lifting up to 50 pounds. Able to operate institutional food service equipment. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to operate cooking equipment and complete all tasks in the position of cook. Good attendance and work record. Able to work with minimal supervision. Committed to maintain and protect, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Certificate from recognized cooking school leading to a Journeyman’s certificate or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid cook’s journeyman’s papers preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Completion of Food Handlers Course.
- Previous cooking experience in a health care setting. Course in nutritional and diet therapy.
