Job Setting: Private School
In this permanent, full-time position, the Communications Officer will report to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. You will have responsibility for school-wide e-mail marketing campaigns and messages, writing, editing and proofreading engaging stories for newsletters, magazine articles, web posting and e-mail blasts, and you will participate in the production of a range of communications and marketing materials.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a degree in public relations, journalism and/or corporate communications, combined with five years’ experience in communications and marketing, including experience in media relations, websites, social media, photography, branding, graphic design and printing. With outstanding interpersonal skills as well as top-notch writing, editing and proofreading skills, you have the ability to turn around messages in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Experience with web-based content management systems, such as Constant Contact, is important, as are skills in maintaining and enhancing our website, Facebook and Twitter presence.

- Enhance communications strategies and initiatives.
- Develop effective internal and external relationships.

Qualifications, Competencies
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications or acceptable equivalent in education.
- Two years experience in corporate communications, with an emphasis in advertising and/or marketing in fast paced, deadline driven production environment.
- Must have good working knowledge of Canadian Press Style.
- Experience designing for print, web, and other digital mediums using QuarkXpress (tested).
- Other design related programs such as Photo Shop or Illustrator considered an asset.
- Experience with PC formats.
- Mac experience an asset.
- Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.
