Personal Support Worker Job Description Sample 1:
A Personal Support Worker is dedicated to providing a professional high standard of quality non medical care customized to suit the client’s needs. You will be required to work weekly flexible schedules in client’s home, retirement community or medical facility. All caregivers need to be CPR/First Aid certified and wear the company uniform including and company ID badge.
In your role as a Personal Support Worker, you may be required to perform the following tasks:
Personal Care (assist with feeding, dressing, walking, bathing, toileting, grooming, etc.
Home Helper (light house-keeping, cleaning in individual living areas, common living areas, dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc.)
Provide Companionship & Enjoy working with seniors (comfortable with seniors, assisted living environments, group homes, children)
Responsibilities:
Responsible for client safety and own personal safety on a continual basis by adhering to the company policies and procedures including but not limited to the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, Client Rights and Client Care Policies and Procedures.
Certificates:
PSW Certificate, Nursing degrees or nursing background and courses, courses such as Health Care Aide or Home Support Attendant.
You may also be required to provide the following specialty care:
Alzheimer and Dementia care • Child care relief • Respite care • Palliative care
Other requirements:
Previous caregiver experience is an asset
Valid driver’s license
Full police clearance and background checks
Good English communication skills
Ability to speak other languages would be an asset

Job Description:
- The Personal Support Worker provides personal care and health maintenance to individuals and families in the home setting.
Responsibilities:
- Collaboration with other health care team members is expected where and when appropriate. At all times, follows an established plan of care and delegation of procedures that meets the needs of the individual and family.
Qualifications:
- Secondary school education preferred
- Certificate in Personal Support Worker program is mandatory
- Certificate from Gentle Persuasions course
- Fundamentals of Palliative Care – Level I, an asset
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR level C Certificate
- Household management experience
- Experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children
